This class follows the adventures of our ancestors from Colonies to Country to Civil War & Reconstruction. With a focus on using primary sources and real historical research methods, student goals for this course are not only to gain a deeper appreciation for the wonder that is the United States, but also develop key 21st century skills in writing, researching, basic publishing, and analysis of multiple genres, sources, and points of view.

Why does knowing about George Washington's early failures help prepare you for 8th grade? Can you learn more about the Constitution than many elected national officials?  How can learning about relationships between the French, British, and Native Americans prepare you for the world of dating?

Come join us. George and I will be waiting for you...

Expectations sheets can be downloaded in the "FILE" section below.

"For attaining wisdom and discipline;

for understanding words of insight;

For acquiring a disciplined and prudent life,
       doing what is right and just and fair;

 For giving prudence to the simple,
       knowledge and discretion to the young-

 Let the wise listen and add to their learning,
       and let the discerning get guidance-

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
       but fools despise wisdom and discipline. "

-- Proverbs 1:1-5; 7
